Leitao, Angelina Maria Da Costa

May 16, 2008

May 3, 1928 - May 11, 2008 Resident of Oakland On Sunday May 11, 2008, soon after celebrating her 80th birthday, we bade farewell to our beloved mother after a brief illness. Born in Shanghai, China in 1928, she immigrated with her family to Hong Kong in 1951, then to the San Francisco in 1957. There she met and married her husband of 45 years, Manuel Emilio Leitao. They settled in Oakland, raised 3 children (Donald, Robert and Augusta "Girlie"), and lived in the same home until her death. Devoted to the Catholic Church, she gave much of her time and energy to her parish, St. Margaret Mary, and St. Jarlath where the children went to school. Angie was well known for her cooking skills and was always ready to throw a party no matter who it was for. Her proficiency took her into catering, and she thoroughly enjoyed bringing joy to peoples hearts and palates. In her declining years, she could not host parties anymore, but she was always ready to go to somebody else's. She was proceeded in death by her parents Victor Sr. and Maria Da Costa and her siblings Victor Jr. and Eleanor. She is survived by her husband Manuel, children Donald, Robert & Girlie, brother Alfredo, daughter-in-law Shirley, son-in-law Bobby Rosas and precious grandson Andrew. Viewing 2 pm. Rosary 4 pm Sunday May 18th at Grant-Miller Mortuary, 2850 Telegraph Ave, Oakland. Funeral 11am. Monday May 19th St Margaret Mary Church, 1219 Excelsior Ave. Oakland. Published in the Bay Area News Group publication from 5/17/2008 - 5/18/2008.
