May 26, 1917 - May 3, 2008 Resident of Oakland, CA Maxine was born in Lamont, OK on 26 May 1917. Her life journey ended on 3 May 2008 at Piedmont Gardens Retirement Home in Oakland, CA. Her early life, thru college, was spent in Oklahoma. During that time she met and married Oliver Thacker, who preceded her in death on 1 September 2001. In the early 1940's they moved to Arcata, CA and a bit later to Berkeley, CA until buying their home on Ocean View Dr. in Oakland where they lived for 40 years. She continued to live in the family home until May 2007 when she moved to Piedmont Gardens Retirement home in Oakland. She is survived by nieces and nephews in Oklahoma and California and by a host of friends who will miss her friendship. For many years she had a showroom and office in the the Merchdise Mart in San Francisco from which she functioned as a Manufacturer's Representative serving Northern CA and Nevada. For many years she has been a member of the Oakland First Baptist Church and valued her many friends there. She was active in the programs and activities of the church. She was a member of the Rockridge Women's Club, the Oakland Bridge Club and the Ebell Lake View Women's Club. A Memorial Service will be held in the Julia Morgan Chapel of the Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Ave. in Oakland on 20 May at 3PM.
